Although a popular whipping boy amongst bandwagon of beats haters, Beats Pro, Studio 2.0 & mixr's for that matter all easily hold their own and IMO are very decent cans indeedy.

As for nice bass slam - my old Detox Pro's still cut the mustard and when EQ'd with my Fiio E17 - it's a hefty bass slam to the face for sure.

...you could say, my about to be owner expectations of this particular can is sky high to experience killer subsonic bass lows... basshead.gifsmily_headphones1.gif

Folks who hate on Beats especially the Pro's while holding plastic pieces of **** are just outing themselves as haters.

Switch the pads and slam these 3 first to find your footing.

That 55mm sexy as **** driver is gonna make everything alright (change the nasty ass pads)

The Detox headphones do measure well though which many people here have probably ignored totally (well for the price I don't blame them). Especially the frequency response looks particularly good (would say the bass looks slightly too skewed towards midbass though):

That's only ~5dB variety in the whole mids and highs range. Actually these fit very well the signature I'm looking for "^--" boosted bass but well balanced mids and highs but the bass is maybe tiiiny bit too much when paired with ZO, I find over ~10dB or so in the headphone itself the quality starts suffering, but if I take a 8~10dB boosted bass headphone with digiZoid ZO amp, the bass quality Vs quantity ratio is impressive so I try to aim roughly for that.

Cool frequency response chart cool.gif

Dubstep champion DJ Skrillex uses beats pro's when rockin it to the masses as shown on below viddy.

Shame the JVC HA-SZ2000-E's don't have a rotating earcup, else Skrillex may have donned them as his new DJing can...

ugh... In case you don't know, skrillex is a fraud. A few years ago he hired a guy named varien and gave him a contract where he makes music, and skrillex takes all the credit... Examples of varien's work: scary monster and nice sprites, bangarang, and a lot more of skrillex's popular songs... Plus, pro detox with a 15 db bass curve for dj'ing live?... I hope he doesn't use those in the studio... That might explain why the few songs he actually does make sound bad... The reason I know this is because varien is a monstercat artist, and he was interviewed and they asked him how he likes working with skrillex... He said it sucked... I think his contract with him is over now, which is why his last album was so bad... There was only 3 decent songs on recess, and I say decent. None of them is really something id listen to. Find another edm artist that isn't a load of crap lol. Try Omnitica or Moxix.
(all my opinion. Please don't try to argue. My opinion is here to stay. If you don't agree, I respect that. biggrin.gif )

I don't really like Skrillex all that much. Dubstep (rather, brostep) is getting really boring for me. Right now, I'm totally addicted to Electro House.

As for Skrillex hiring Varien...as far as I know I did some research, and read that Skrillex hired Varien to do an orchestral suite of many of his popular songs. Here is a quote from Wikipedia:

Quote:
In December 2011, Nick was hired by dubstep producer Skrillex to do an orchestral suite of his most popular songs. In this suite, the songs "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites", "All I Ask Of You", "Scatta" (all from the Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites EP) and "Equinox" (from the More Monsters and Sprites EP) were re-arranged into an orchestral fashion. To date, the "Skrillex Orchestral Suite" has received over 3,000,000 views onYouTube.[4]

I'm not sure if he actually did Skrillex's popular songs because if he did, I would gladly label him a ****** like...well, I don't know...Avicii. I mean, seriously, he takes a guitarist and Aloe Blacc for a spin on a pretty good song (Wake Me Up), only to take all the credit for himself.

Anyway, as for using a "Pro Detox" live...that's just sad, I guess. But just for clarification, the Detox is a special edition Beats Pro, released in conjunction with what I think was Dr. Dre's final album or something like that.

I'm 100% certain that Skrillex is getting paid a hefty sum of money to wear those Beats, and he wouldn't wear them if he wasn't getting that sponsorship.

And Detox is supposed to be the next Dr. Dre album, but it has been heavily delayed since forever, and in my opinion will never be released. I think it's pretty humorous that Dre decided to put out a special edition can for an album that hasn't even been released yet. :D

Varien was responsible for the Skrillex Orchestral Suite arrangement which was a bonus track off of Bangarang. Please cite your source for Varien ever saying that he produced music for Skrillex under a contract while Skrillex took credit for it. I've watched a few of Varien's interviews and he has never once mentioned that. D's usually use headphones that are bass heavy, that way they can beatmatch without having to crank the volume way up. Who knows what headphones Skrillex uses in the studio nowadays. Whether or not you like an artist is your subjective opinion, but to call a man whose won 6 grammys a load of crap and accuse him of using a ghost producer is immature.

I've previously watched a video of that set, and yes I do like Zedd's remix of Breakn' a Sweat.

When I was getting into EDM I quite liked Skrillex and I still enjoy a few of his tracks, although now I can see that some of them aren't exactly produced well. I do get a little bored of Dubstep/Brostep/Whateveritscalledthisweekstep and I prefer DnB as a genre as it has lots of interesting subgenres(I personally love Dark DnB). I think it's kinda unfair to just call an artist crap as you may think it's crap but some people love it. I think a lot of people who hate on Skrillex now may not want to admit that he was the person who got them into EDM, in the same way that Beats got many people here(they certainly got me here, but I never actually owned a pair, but that's for another time). And as for the Beats Pro, there's no denying they're decent cans but for £400, I'd have to say no. Many basshead choices cost a fraction of that, and cater to many tastes, there's the Q40s, XB1000s, JVC 77s and SZs, and much more for much less, considering I can only listen to certain genres on the Beats I would have to pass.

I can relate to you mentioning Beats getting many people to head-fi - for me beats are what I cut my headcan teeth on originally, that led me to bigger and better with the likes of Audeze LCD-X, FOSTEX TH900 etc - if anybody's bothered, check my profile for my full list of cans currently owned, but also beats cans have significantly improved in terms of sound signature and form factor. If they simply relied on the kudos fashion lifestyle attraction they seem to succeed on massively, only, they would have been dead in the water years ago. I posted a video by a guy who calls himself "part time audiophile" not to long ago (dont know if this guy is a member here or not) who summed up my thoughts entirely on beats, though he was specific in relating to beats studio 2.0 after being recommended to him by a member here (Hifiguy528) as a good portable set of cans to use on flights.

Part time audiophile guy had just posted a YT unboxing video for his new set of Abyss AB-1266 cans that he was about to use with an array of top tier amplifiers including the Cavalli liquid gold, and mentioned he was also a STAX fan, but nonetheless gave due credit to the Studio 2.0's, which to me anyways indicates that a lot of the old skool beats hating bandwagon is a little dated and not necessarily valid today.

I guess more than anywhere on head-fi, the bass club is somewhere where I'd expect beats would get a fair deal, and pretty much so far that seems to be the case cool.gif I've yet to read any true blue beats hating that I've seen elsewhere on the internets for sure, I mean, you'd think Dre himself had shot their mothers in the foot, the way some of these guys mindlessly rant over how they hate beats - yet somehow,I doubt they've even heard a pair to form a valid opinion angry_face.gif

Beats will always have a place in my collection for sure, but its horses for courses and not necessarily for everyone smily_headphones1.gif
