I'll bet the headphone out is pretty rocking on that system.  The late models do not come off the main amp and use opamps instead.  Much better sound from the early models coming off the amp with just a resistor in the path.

Vintage drives my headphones incredibly.  Here's my main system - I have 7 different vintage-based systems.  Talk about sweet powerful bass................

12 x 18" bass drivers.

That is bass, my friends.

This is a really tiny setup for a medium sized outdoor festival.

I don't know if you know what I'm pointing at if you haven't heard it for yourself but different cans can sound quite different in the highs despite having about equal highs presence. Ultrasone's lower-end offerings are pretty rough sounding in the highs, I guess Signature series going by reviews -- less so.

For me, I can listen to things like brass instruments, cymbals etc without any trouble, they are not harsh for me. They are softer than T1, TH600, HD800 highs. They are noticeably pronounced and I think they are on the border where any more treble would be too much.

The HD800 is far more piercing than Tbe TH600, of course.

Definitely. The HD800 treble was quite sharp thats for sure, I didn't like them outside of classical music.

I didn't like the HD800 at all with either of the amps I tried it with. Now the W1000, that's another story :D

Hmmm... Covering up the 55's ports doesn't tighten bass, but instead muffles sound. :\

What did u cover them with? I feel like you would have to cover it with something air-tight like hot glue, but i wouldnt recommend that lol.

I wouldn't mod the XX's as they are already called Xtreme Xplode

The old 55's had more ventilation and worse sound

The new ones have very small ports. Opening anything is going backwards on the XX's IMO

EDIT:

Just read what you said:o

Anyway...I think these are what they are. Xtreme Xplodes. They have other series for more refined listening. I doubt these "go there".

Start simple, my friend! Tube amps are a pain in the ass.

The Aune T1 is a great place to start. So good.
