You got the s9....do you use Mach3bass I use +8 on that. The iAudio10 put me through the rings of hell to figure it out but now I'm hooked on the sound.

ZO 2.1 supposed to best version until 3 comes out.Been looking for one used but the battery may be thrashed and not sure they do 300-1000 cycles etc.

"His and hers"

Funny story really, one day she wanted some headphones for study, and they were sitting nearby, so I was like "here, use these". Her first reaction was "hey, these are really comfortable" then "Wow, these sound great!"

..I should have known it was trouble at this point!

She used them more and more, and after a while I figured, I rarely use them anyway, she can just keep them at her house. She is fully aware of their constantly rising value, so she takes good care of them, haha.

I don't mind, I have too many damn headphones anyway, might as well share.

If the bass beats are configured to raise from say 40Hz, peak at 60Hz and fall off around 80Hz or so for example. Then if you have a bass boost that say starts raising at 20Hz already, peaks maybe around 40Hz and rolls off already at 60Hz then that bass beat will be colored and deeper sounding and possibly more "cloudy" or untextured than it should be according to the perfectly engineered beat by the producer's point of view.

Then people have their own taste, some like deep rumbly bass, some like punchy impactful bass etc. For the manufacturers of bass boosting amps it's more about finding what works great for the greatest amount people though.

Rumbling and impactful bass are not mutually exclusive. I'd pick impact over rumble which happens +50Hz but I don't have to choose one or the other. I have both using a Cowon + e12

Folks with an ipod? My ipod classic is wretched compared to my Cowon.

Cowon...designed by terrorists..endorsed by audiophiles. What a trippy company.

I enjoy accurate bass that is boosted a tiny bit... And cowon made by terrorists?... Some of your posts... Lol. I can't help but laugh at em. And Hawaii, you have enough bass cred for 10 people. You deserve the title basshead club president lol.

... Sharing expensive equipment?... Where do I sign up!... As long as I don't have to share back! I don't exactly have any expensive stuff... Yet. Plus, that is an impressive string of 5 and 4 star reviews. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/cr/B000MVEC10/ref=mw_dp_cr plus, I think my tastes in looks for cans must have changed. I used to think those looked like ugly coconuts. Now they look like works of art... Care to share those lcd's? Lol. biggrin.gif

Ok, I tried E12 and E17 with X5 and Merlins.

E12 - disappointed. The bass boost is bloated similar to the E11. Just to strongly crawling into the mids...

E17 - what a surprise. It's boosting bass without using the manual boost itself. Nice, clean enhancement - I like it. But the manual boost is also crappy - I guess all Fiios just love crawling into mids... Although the amp via coaxial nicely adds some bass, it also colors the sound adding to much higher mids (E11 and E12 were pretty neutral in comparison). That's a shame...

Wondering how the digizoid's compare to those amps.

probably insane bass boosting. I've seen the graphs... Looks like a bassheads best friend... From what I remember from looking it up, the boost didn't leak into the mids... Don't take my word for it though. I've only seen the graph a few times, and haven't actually tried it.

They boost bass nicely but do not do a good job as an amplifier.  I've had three at one time for double amping purposes with E11, Magni and a BK but on their own they are disappointing.

Only have one left. Keeping it for some reason which I haven't figured out yet.

That girl realizes you allow her to use one of the preeminent headphones of our time?  And that it's discontinued and priceless?  Make sure you have a good prenup with them in it.

Good for you..............my wife has no interest in listening to headphones but I did finally get her to listen to the D7000's playing Thriller and Beat It (her choice)................priceless expression.  She then "got it".

Maybe the JVC HA-S400 will be an option for the light basshead? They sound FANTASTIC on hot recordings.
