Yes you clearly are.
I tried several headphones recently and prefer the m-100 for sure. You get amazing built quality and sound. Great looks...Customizable Plates plates to make it YOUR headphone...yeah I wonder why so many people love them....

Kind of... Yes. That is slightly stupid. He even said that the treble wasn't to his liking, yet still gave it a perfect... Why? I don't know. I only read the first few paragraphs before I had to stop. A mid-fi can doesn't deserve a perfect.

I made it feel like the best cans ever? Hyperbolemuch?
I tested it against the ones in my sig and the Sens Momentums and some at local stores and they were by far MY favorites.
I am sure there are better at prices I can't afford or that fit other user preferences better. Dont care, I care for what I can afford and my preferences.
Any other question?

Then I read this:

http://www.head-fi.org/products/v-moda-xs/reviews/10747

First perfect scored review I have ever seen:blink:

I'm not a fanboy.....I have a preferences ...apparently.

Honest question. Is this site run by, partly owned by, or run by a relative of the V-Moda people?

I like the M100 but they are like my SMS. Fun. The V-moda are very well made. My friends own them. I don't get the love. I am really really missing something here.

Anyway...that review on the front page of this site is embarrassing. IMO

No.

Site maintainers sometimes feature Member Reviews in the front page to create awareness for new products, whether they are amps, IEMs, full-size headphones, etc. They cannot control what the member rates or talks about but if they believe it will help others, they post it. I have discovered quite a few new products and gems just because of these featured reviews. So no, it doesn't mean Head-fi is affiliated with x or y product.

Just to add to the impedance versus loudness argument (its not really an argument). My HD600 is a 300ohm impedance can, my HE500s is a 38 ohm impedeance can. The HD600s is much louder than the HE500s on all my amps. The HD600 is even loud enough from my iphone, the HE500 is grossly inadequatein volume with the iphone. The sensitivity is of the cans are 89 and 97 dB/mW

On another note to keep this on track, has anyone heard the Vsonic GR02? To me they sound very bassy. Plus they're cheap. I found them bassier than the Shure 215s

Hmm. I would have guessed the impedance level would have counteracted the sensitivity because of significantly less power, so therefore quieter. But apparently the sensitivity being 6 higher makes more of a difference than an impedance that's 10X as much.

Hmm. I guess planars just have a thing for being hard to drive lol.

Give them a shot. I'm trying the Dunu DN-1000 this weekend, I can report back to you if you're interested.

Otherwise - tried the Shure SE215? They are cheapies, but might fit your bill.

Also, I haven't heard the Sennheiser IE8 - but maybe that's what you're after?

Yeah, it's just the way that planars work that makes their impedance a pretty much useless number.

I tried maybe 200? 250 separate pairs. (maybe a side benefit of living in Japan?)

Great looks is clearly a matter of opinion. Goth/Steampunk...not my thing. Seriously though...who gives a ****? Looks? You made a + point which was the 2nd most common - point about beats. They're just fashion statements<<<repeated by many a V-Moda fan btw.  Then there's the whole..I can't see these plates cuz they are on my head kinda thing. If that's not about style for others to enjoy...I dunno what is.

Well made? That shouldn't be special. I take my headphones off before I bungee jump

I take them off before I para sail

I lead an active lifestyle but at the point of "tank strength" I am not allowed to wear em.  I am very very active but .....I still don't see the point cable stress tests? How about folks take care of their stuff and btw send a memo to M-Audio since they NEED wire help. I need bass and M100 are fantastic for folks with iphones and portable devices (most of the market)  I amp. The M 100 didn't take my super slope. If i didn't have a portable amp I would like these more but I do so...meh

If they make a fashion plate that increases bass response between 20Hz-120Hz I wouldn't be interested but THAT would be cool.:D

I'm not hating on you Shaolin because

1. Your a basshead...(I'm not into cannibalism)

2. Your happy (that's what matters)

3. This is all opinion.

I knew you'd be in here. I almost took a shot at the site and one of it's most popular brands/owners/fanbase. This is a revenue generating site for _______ and______ and that goes without saying.

I list 3 points to anyone who inquires about my favorite cans. If any of those 3 points don't fit I say get th6 or 9's. I go out of my way to not let my love drain another persons pocket. Seeing a PERFECT rating on new cans is only slightly less annoying than folks who do reviews and don't have the pics to show em. People can drive up or down rankings and perceptions of cans they may not even know. If you have the ear of anyone they should require some photos to be an official tied to amazon/seller starred review. Folks spend their money based on these sites members words. A more strict proof of ownership would maybe ferret out the unfortunate few that go out of their way to ruin other peoples day and savings.

Can anyone recommend me some over-ear headphones with heavy hard hitting bass? Quantity isn't entirely important (but should be there) but the quality needs to be superb as well as having very hard drop. My max is $300, but would be most comfortable around $140-$220. Thanks in advanced for the help if you decide to help me. :)

I already know about the HE-400s, so those are an option if I can bring myself to spend that much. Thanks in advanced for the help if you decide to help me. :)

You've come to the right place! Firstly, a few questions:

Are the headphones for:

  • Desktop use
  • Portable use (Trains, flights, around the house) or,
  • Mobile use (able to fit inside your pocket)?

Also, where are you located, and are you happy to buy online, or would you rather buy locally?

Home use, I doubt I'll ever being using these outside my cave, but they'll be driven by a laptop and I may or may not get a desktop. (if I do, then xonar all the way) My codec is ALC269 if that matters. As for purchasing, I have access to Best Buy and online and have no preference.
