Why are you comparing IEMs to full-size cans?

I don't personally use or  like IEMs, so I'm not able to discuss them.

No need to go about bashing on IEMs, when you know full-well that this forum is full of people that love them.

We need to remember that this is the bass head club, which does not necessarily mean "physically rattle my head till pops club". There is much more to bass than just visceral impact!

You really felt the need to state the obvious?

That's precious. I would have never known. Tell me about this "bass" thing you speak of...wait...I cannot handle it...surely it's too much for my little brain

HawaiiBadBoy how about the treble on the JVC Kenwood Victer HA-SZ2000 ? These are looking very good , but is the treble peaky or bright/sparkly/grating/etched ?

I like you and the way you write Hawaii, no need to pull out sarcasm ;) Besides, my comment was aimed at the blunt dismissal of IEM's, not at you or any of your comments! Keep up the good foruming!

I'm just playing with you bru!:D

I wanted to use that gif again !!

I have zero experience with iem besides the apple ear buds. I wouldn't dismiss anything off hand. We were just talking about how in the end everything is about opinion.

I enjoy these cans and have stopped a hunt. I am satisfied.

However these are typical "dark" J.V.C

The treble and mids are handled by a separate driver. Sounds like a great idea but if it were everybody would know about em....they don't so let that speak to you.

These are "A"typical in that they vent into your ears not out the side or somewhere else. They tune low. As low as you can hear and will go as loud as you can hear.

For a comparison:

For the Ultrasone Pro 900 to hit as hard as it can  I have to tune the treble way way down. The Ultrasone have the unique skill of  producing great impact and tearing your scalp off with highs.  Side by side with the "rah" hit the sz dominate. The Pro 900 have a superior response everywhere besides the lows. I gotta tune the highs way down though and raise the lows. I'm doing too much work and in the end the hit in inferior. the sz just need an amp and some low lifting.

That's important to me...and my listening.

The sz are bass dominant in every way. They hum low they vent into your ear and will just go bezerk. The treble appeals to me because by the time I have raised the already raised sub floor to +25 db around 50Hz the highs and mids are perfect but that's at loud volume. Everyone who listens casually has had issues with the dark veiled mids. The early mids are being overwhelmed by the lows and the highs sound fine to me but at regular listening levels they may not sound right.

Gotta change the cups.

Have a Hip Hop/trap beat dominated library

and be amping.

If that don't fit you I do not recommend these.

Honestly I don't recommend anyone buy anything without hearing it first whenever possible.

Nice....deep & DARK. My fav......

May get them and see how it goes till I decide on TH600's.

Bass slanted EDM for me and amping my stuff all the way.

I just picked up a Bushmaster Mk2 DAC/AMP which reaches down to 5Hz.

I see these are on kaku for 20,600 Yen + buying fees + shipping from Japan...better than lowest on ebay by a long way.

+25 DB on an already solid bass monster can. INSANE !  :basshead:

Hawaiibadboy, I know you're a portable user but I'd suggest if you have any computer to get a pair of for example old Creative Audigy 2 ZS card and try the kX Audio 3rd party drivers for it. This has some of the best working 10-band EQ you will ever encounter. The driver even lets you use MULTIPLE EQs in succession, I only tried 4 at tops... (due to keeping myself sane xD). These drivers work directly on the hardware layer so it bypasses the windows ****ty audio processing, its EQ speaks directly on hardware level why it works so well. Unlike pretty much any software EQ's, BOOSTING frequencies on this EQ works generally better to my ears, it just boosts those frequencies cleanly like it should, no distortion. I remember I once tested 3x EQs with +12dB on 31, 62 and 125Hz slider on EACH 3 EQs out of curiosity, my main vol slider was set very low for obvious reasons as that's a wooping +36dB bass boost. xD The result? It sounded exactly like being next-door to a club with the bass bleeding through the walls. There was no clipping distortion or so though, it sounded "clean" but obviously madnessly bassy, you could barely hear any mids or highs. :P

My slope for casual listening is pretty extreme. These cans can eat that steady is reason #1 I am no longer in the market to buy anything

If you can afford to assign a set of cans to low end stuff then I endorse this. If this is your only set of cans and it's gonna put you in a tight spot I do not.

I think I go out of my way more than anyone to dissuade folks from buying my favorite cans.....it's very odd.

If you want the dark hammer...get it.

I have the Audigy 2 ZS and I had to use 3rd party drivers because it wouldn't work without ones written by a guy on HardForum.  I use MusicBee with V.S.T wrapper to use plugins. Milkdrop and lyric scrollers.

I liked the stuff we were talking about yesterday because it shuts down without effecting any audigy,musicbee,v.s.t stuff. Open and close....good stuff. I just don't listen to headphones unless I'm out so I never used extreme bass because the subs in my floor would drive my neighbors nuts...it happened yesterday when I was testing that other software.

Thanks for the heads up though:D If it's about nuts bass I bookmark it!! Like your post......bookmarked!

emot-woot.gif lol I simply left for a moment and now you guys are EQ pros! (@White Lotus and @Hawaiibadboy!) I never tried the GUI until I posted about Equalizer APO in the sz thread, so I really had no accurate picture about whatever I was doing (just calibrating it by ear).

BTW, for you guys outside of Japan who want to import from Japan, I just discovered an alternative to Tenso: http://www.dv8cag.com/ The site was recommended in here. dv8cag.com seems to deal business in a personal manner, and is run by a family in Japan. I haven't tried it, but the option to choose a much cheaper shipping service than EMS can save a lot of money. The owner is a native English speaker as well. Tenso only ships via EMS, which is quite expensive, and communication is very limited. Also, in my current order, the weight was set at 1,520g, and the extra 20g was enough to raise the shipping from 4180 yen ($40.47) to 4580 yen ($44.38). Not much, but the thought that a pinch of cardboard is worth $4 is quite irritating lol! And ... I get my SZ2000 today!

The other day I ordered this laptop for $699, cheapest laptop with a 3200x1800 IPS screen (although PenTile screens have color problems). It also has a built-in subwoofer (yeah, but for a laptop, it's convenient and just feels right). I'm concerned with the quality of the built-in Beats Audio hardware, as some say it has very low volume and high distortion, while others say it's just a driver problem and that the hardware is decent and solved by installing Windows default sound driver. No money for a new amp now. Basically, I'm set back financially until next financial aid. But for now I think I have everything I need.

A subwoofer in a laptop....I have been away from the PC sites for too long:D

sz arrives today....

Mr Kelton...Mr Smiley..

Mr Smiley....Mr Kelton..

Today you discover how low your ears can hear when tasked with following a dynamic driver beyond the human listening threshold.

Pure....joy.
