The Basshead Club - Page 670

I still think JVC's are the best cans for bassheads, and for value. I'm getting those LP's, so we shall see. I will do a full test on the LP's in comparison to JVC HA-M55X's, Beats Studios (old version), monster N-Tune(Nice as hell headphones. Great for all types of music. Basically the same sound signature as the JVC's, but smaller. By the way, the JVC's and the N-Tunes are both really good for rock, and bass oriented music. They got the balance just right.) and whatever else my friends let me borrow for testing. I will be testing them out of a 1-10 scale.
Build, Durability (based on research... I don't have money to replace 550$ of headphones), distortion, loudness, bass quality, bass impact, mids quality (which I know JVC's will get the highest. The mid range instrumentals are just too nice sounding... Even if male vocals are somewhat lackluster.), Equalization responsiveness, treble quality, soundstage (which JVC's have quite a big one, at that. Especially for basshead cans... Oddly so, in fact.) soundstage accuracy, drivability, response to being driven with FiiO E11, cost/quality ratio, accessories... Any other things I should touch on in my comparisons of two popular, and one not so popular basshead cans? (I might be able to do comparisons between a new model beats pro too, and a new model beats studio. Also maybe a Solo HD, and some apple ear buds as a control comparison. Oh, skull candy 2XL ear buds, skull candy hesh 2... Maybe. And then other things I can find.)

We discussed this device a while ago, but no one had tried it (I believe).

Have you written any reviews? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I get this weird feeling that you're a fan of the JVCs. Can't quite put my finger on it.

O.O HOW DID YOU READ MY MIND???.. Notice how I didn't badmouth V-Moda. I've been critical of the fact that the M-100's are marketed towards audiophiles, but they have quite a bit of bass for audiophile grade cans. More suitable for a casual basshead/audiophile who wants the best of both worlds in one... Now, notice again how I didn't bash V-Moda. Actually, they are my #1 product I want to try out right now. The LP's should give a good oomph to the low end, and have recessed highs. An odd response indeed, but one that I am dying to try. I probably will enjoy it more than a V shape... Kinda funny... "V" -Moda. Not V response.

The Secret to this peaceful existence between many colors in the Bass rainbow in this epic thread.

Love the one your with but don't rip on another persons gear.

Yes M100 are like the New Beats studios  or actually visa-versa.  The LP are more like the old ones.

But they have 50mm and better frequency range. I also like how the LP's from what I'm reading don't have the artificial sound that beats do.

And I was looking at the M-100's and the beats studios just now. The bass on the M-100's is about the same, but it doesn't have recessed mids like beats, or the loud highs. They got it just right for me! I want to try the LP's to get a taste of what V-moda m-100's are like, since the difference between the two is that the lp's have a bit more elevated bass, and rolled off highs, with the same midrange response.

Everything besides studio monitors with near flat response slopes (they don't play flat they just don't adjust the original studio mastered mix) have an artificial sound. Emphasizing one thing or another. The old Beats were justifiably beat upon.

50mm is good and they have a strong sub slope. Should be enough. Check in the V moda thread about amp headroom if you wanna/plan on amping.

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 90

Anyone know how these Brainwavz HM5 pads sound (alter/diminish/enhance) sound? Anybody used these?

It says that no one has been able to really distort the sound from LP's with amps...

I have heard of them being used on hfi 580s, but how it changes the sound ranged from removing to increasing bass lol

Think I've seen people swap them with the S500's. They say it increases isolation and comfort vastly, but ruins the sound signature (less bass quantity, more mids and more highs).
