Clarity: ATH-AD900 vs. LCD-2

clarity or transparency is hard for me to describe on the LCDs, not meaning good or bad, just different.

LCD-2 is lower mid-range heavy. That's going to make it sound less clear at first, especially when talking about guitars and vocals. Imaging and detail are both superb once you get past that warm sound signature. Many people describe their mid-range as "godlike" and other things along that same line. I don't know about that.

The most immediate difference I heard going from a Grado to the LCD-2 is that lower mid-range actually exists in music. It didn't with the Grado. Male vocalists were singing with their throat, not their noses. Bass guitars didn't just play notes in the mid-bass. It was really something to hear.
