Clarity: ATH-AD900 vs. LCD-2

I know this is probably a stupid question but how is the midrange clarity (transparency) of the LCD-2 in comparison to the ATH-ad900?

On a scale of 1-20 rank the clarity (transparency) of both.

clarity or transparency is hard for me to describe on the LCDs, not meaning good or bad, just different.

Heya,

Orthos have a different kind of mids.

At least, that's my impression.

Want ortho mids on a budget? Get T50RP.

Mod later as funds allow.

Very best,

LCD-2 is lower mid-range heavy. That's going to make it sound less clear at first, especially when talking about guitars and vocals. Imaging and detail are both superb once you get past that warm sound signature. Many people describe their mid-range as "godlike" and other things along that same line. I don't know about that.

The most immediate difference I heard going from a Grado to the LCD-2 is that lower mid-range actually exists in music. It didn't with the Grado. Male vocalists were singing with their throat, not their noses. Bass guitars didn't just play notes in the mid-bass. It was really something to hear.
