Any Thoughts on the Windows 8 Developer Preview?

I tried the Windows 8 Developer Preview on my Mac and I gotta say I'm impressed with it. It looks great and people familiar with Windows don't have to go through a hard time learning the new OS. No lags, just pure smoothness. What's better is that Microsoft promises that softwares that runs in Windows 7 will be compatible to Windows 8. What do you guys think about Windows 8?

Probably it's too early for a Windows 8. biggrin.gif

Yeah it looks really good.

Hopefully it doesn't lag or screw up like Vista.

Haha! No lags, even in Vmware. Microsoft learned its lesson.

Booting is the biggest improvement with Win8
The GUI is amazing FOR a tablet or touchscreen BUT terrible for a desktop GUI
Very unusable, the Start menu is far better in ease of use with a mouse

I have Win7 and Win8 dual-boot

I agree. It's begging to be touched.

Been running it on my laptop for the last while. It's nice looking, boots fast, and works with pretty much every win7 program I've installed. The start button takes some getting used to, I had to google how to turn it off when I first installed it >.<

For some reason multi-touch doesn't work with it on my laptop (asus u36jc) so the metro UI is pretty cumbersome. I can see it working fairly well though.

Before win8 I wouldn't even consider a tablet, but now a x86 tablet running it seems like a fantastic idea. I'll probably pick one up in the next few years whenever they come down in price a bit.
