But who we are to say this... we have less than 1000 posts and nothing special in the signatures...biggrin.gif

Looks like a mic, given that stand/mount.  I'd be really interested in it!

Audeze do have a "speaker" subsection on their website, though, so here's hoping it comes out soon :)

Or rather a metaphor for closest-to-life sound reproduction, as opposed to an actual product.

Assuming a planar magnetic microphone with the surface area the same size as the LCD-2s... The LCD-2 v2s were made using a "thinner and more reliable diaphragm material". A thinner, lighter diaphragm would be equally, if not more advantageous to a microphone than it is to a headphone. Perhaps the v2 drivers are an offshoot of the development of a microphone? Just a random thought really.

Audeze does manufacture speakers and microphones for the recording industry which is where they started out.(from what i know)

I know only a few fortunate people who have listened to the Audeze line array planar magnetic speakers (20k a pair if i remember it right)..My dad got to listen to them in my hometown.

RMAF is going to be exciting..just saying ;)

Is the line array speaker basically a bunch of LCD2 drivers in a cabinet (like the old Grado line array speakers)?

nope..they are much larger drivers.. rectangular in shape. , curved supporting structure with built in supports for each of the driver elements to slide into (atleast from how best i can recall from almost 2 years ago now as it was described to me by the audeze guys). They had a picture of it on the flyers they had for when they went to canjam and arrived on the headphone scene back in 2009.

Was told, one of these speakers in somewhere in the LA area. Go check it out Milos :)

Does anyone still have that old canjam flyer?  We need a scan posted.  I've known that they had developed a line array speaker but have not seen what it looks like.  I'm curious cause line array speakers can be neat as well as big and tall.

What is it? Answer:

Audeze Inc. / Audio Research Labs It is a planar microphone. In Ribbon microphones, the diaphragm is the conductor. In Planar, the diaphragm has conductive traces.

I thought it was a joke pic, only on basis that it looks like they stuck a LCD-2 earcup on it xD

They've been planning to turn their headphone driver into a microphone from the beginning as far as i know.  When they were showing off their LCD-1 at a meet Sankar held up his driver in it's egg shape at the time, really proud, telling me it would make a great directional mic.
