Xonar D2X compared to DacMagic - sound quality

Hi,

I'm going to build a fanless HTPC for music listening, and this means that I need to get an external DAC (the case I choosed is too small to insert a sound card). Now I have an Asus Xonar D2X, paired with Sennheiser HD650 and a Fiio E9 amp.

I noticed that Cambridge Audio DacMagic is considered a good DAC (for it's price, I know wink_face.gif ), but I'm curious if there would be an improvement regarding the sound quality (especially bass, now it seems a bit loose - maybe this is how the headphones are supposed to sound, not sure)? I'm going to connect the DAC using the digital output of the motherboard (lossless files, some 24/96) .

The budged for the DAC would be around 400-500$: is the DacMagic a good choice?
