Need help new Sound Card/Headphones don't have sound

So I just bought the asus xonar dg soundcard and I am not sure if I installed it correctly. I disabled the hd audio in bios which I believe is the onboard sound for my mobo. I then installed the driver for the sound card but when I plug my new JVC harx900 there is no sound. I am not sure if I need to plug any of my sdif output or front panel cords into the sound card? It doesn't seem to detect my headphones unlike what realtek onboard audio does. In device manager I still have my amd audio and the asus audio.. I am not sure what is going on, can someone help me?

Check Sound Options to see what your default output is. Check the player you're using to see if the card is set as its default output. If the card needs to be plugged into your power supply as well as the motherboard, make sure you did that. Check the card's drivers to make sure there's nothing muted or anything and that you're using the right output (analog out for headphones, nothing digital).

The default output is speakers for asus xonar dg and there's an option for spdif. I'm not sure what you mean by player but when I have music on from youtube the mixer volume moves. The card is currently only plugged into my mobo, there's 3 other ports but are only aux, spdif, and front panel- no powersupply. I do not have anything muted and the analog output is set to headphones. I'm really not sure what is going on because when I plug my other headphones in there is no sound either.

Ok so I've been playing around with the driver and the only sound I can hear is when I am testing "speakers" as the analog output but only the "right surround and left surround" works.. The rest I cannot hear. Anyone know what is wrong?

Do you have your headphones plugged into the left and right surround jack, instead of the headphone jack? The headphone jack is the green one, the black one is for surround sound.
