VH audio's stuff is great, but the prices that silver commands is a little too much for the average consumer to DIY himself. As for internal wiring, I still use copper for all my projects just for it's cost, plus I want to build the amp true to it's design so I want to avoid any internal coloration for the time being... I do truthfully use Homegrown Audio OCC copper because it's fairly cheap (like 0.75/ft), it's high quality, and the people behind the brand are good people who are supporting people on a budget.

It's a real shame that Mr. Lee from Cryoparts passed, there was some great gear passing through those doors, and for some of the things that place produced, you really are not going to be able to find alternatives for. Their carbon fiber 3.5mm's were to die for!

Yeah silver gets pricey in a hurry. Fortunately I only need about 5 feet of the VH 18AWG wire to go from the board to the headphone socket, good thing as its $25 a foot. Homegrown Audio has some great wire. Neotech's OCC hookup wire is also very reasonable, I'm using that to wire the power supply section. It's about $1.70 for the PVC insulated version, or $3 for Teflon.

Cryo parts and Locus Design will definitely be missed. The Locus cables were the tip of the spear in terms of pushing computer audio forward. The Nucleus and Cynosure cables had no competition. Ridge Street Audio has some promising wires and I except them to keep improving their Poiema and Alethias designs, but for those that wanted the best possible USB cable, there was only one place to go. Really too bad.

hey guys im just wondering what the big difference between ofc copper and silver cable is in terms of sound quality. from my understanding the reason people use silver in cable applications is to reduce the impedance or resistance of the cable. now im just not sure of the point of having a silver cable in somthing like my qables loc is. i mean the difference in resistance is something like 0.001 ohms to 0.0001 whitch shouldent really have an audible difference. plus in most cases your inernals including source componants, amps, dac's ect. won't be up to par with your cable undoing whatever it might have actualy done to improve your overall sound. in the long run is it worth upgrading to silver?

Depends on who makes it. Asking what copper sounds like or what silver sounds like is akin to asking what solid state sounds like or what tubes sound like. I don't know, depends on who made the circuit. In a strictly electrical sense, silver is slightly more conductive than copper, though this difference can be equaled out by using a slightly larger, less resistive copper conductor. If you believe that cables are simply a function of relative resistance, than you could use anything - aluminum, nickel, brass, bronze, lead, whatever, so long as it was large enough to equal the resistance of copper. In reality this doesn't really work.

Two companies that make what I think are some of the best cables on the market don't use silver in their products. A third mixes it with gold. A fourth uses a funky liquid polymer that's not even metal. There's a lot more to cable design than just silver v copper.

that makes me wonder how the more affordable Swedish SUPRA might reveal. I was so tempted to try them, just to compare to more expensive ones, but didn't want to spend on another set of entry-level cables. still tempted...

[edit]: I just called Custom Cable UK to find out if it was possible to rent the Supra Sword's. it is, but for £40 a week. mmm...

Couldn't tell you. I can say that as a used buy, the K-S Emotion is a steal. Fantastic stuff.
