New Westone 3's -- Seem to favor the right earphone

Thread Starter

Got my Westone 3's this weekend, and I have been in love ever since. The sound is absolutely perfect for me, just enough bass, but not too much (with the long foam tips -- its amazing to me so much changes between the long and short tips). I have noticed that they seem to be a bit louder/prefer the right earphone. It's very slight, let me explain:

I'm coming from ATH-M50's and on songs where the vocals/guitar/etc are directly in the center of the soundstage, they feel about 2-3% weighted towards the right more on the Westones. Is this a fit issue? Possible it's a hardware issue (these are from an Amazon reseller -- regardless I plan on returning these and buying them directly from earphonesolutions)? I thought it might be a slight hearing loss in my left ear, but the vocals are centered on my M50s so I dont think thats what it is. I'm trying to find the direct cause just so I don't end up ordering from earphone solution and having to return them (along with a very high 15% restocking fee).

Thanks Head-FI!

^ didn't know that code was still in effect. They seem to always have coupons no matter when.

Try some different tips. The Comply foamies have a tendency to close up when you roll them in your fingers and block the sound tube. Either that or you've got a defective pair.
