benchmark dac1 USB power lines

Hi,

i purchased DAC1 USB and i have "Dual Conduit USB cable (two type A to one type B)" - separate cables for the power and signal lines. Does dac1 usb need usb power lines ?? i tested and it works without those power lines, connected only signal lines. Does this affect sound quality or harm the dac if i dont connect usb power lines ??

Hi,

 

The DAC1 USB does not require USB power.  You will not lose sound quality nor harm the DAC1 USB if you don't connect the USB power line.

Do the other USB models (PRE, HDR) require USB power?

i guess if the dac1 doesnt require usb power, other models doesnt require it eather. after all, all the models have their own power plug. :)

None of the Benchmark converters require USB power.
