AFAIK, if you're interested in the T50RP, Paradox LFFs receive very high praise as well.

Also check out the ZMFs.  Excellent mods of the TP50s, including a version with wood cups by Vibro Labs.

2 companies have started selling modified TrP 50 headphones. Between 300 and 700. Ive owned Thunderpants, unmodded trp50, and lcd2. Nothing compared to the lcd2. I was displeased with the Fostex sound. Small, lacking bass, mundane. Id never own another pair. Just my experience.

While I haven't had a chance to compare directly to an LCD-2, I did to my LCD-XC which is a more apt comparison IMO as they are both closed. I felt my Thunderpants were more similar to my XCs than they were different - the XCs came out on top, but not by a huge margin, and certainly nowhere near as much as would be expected by their difference in price.

Are they changing to a different driver? Theres only so many options regarding bass ports, headphone materials such as pads and cups, and cabling

No, same driver, but there is a lot of potential in the Fostex driver.

I got a lot of very favorable reactions to my Thunderpants at Head-Fi meets.

Guess its just my preference then. Id had some smeggy built thunderpants. I appreciate true innovation and DIY projects. Taking someone elses idea and selling it as your own though, it reaks of theft. I digress though. If you enjoy the sound and others do thats fine with me. I stand by how I feel about them. Id like to compare the HE 500 to the LCD someday.
