I'm doing a recable with Canare Star Quad (2 blue, 2 white) and I'm confused as to how to trace the L and R white signal wires that I soder from the plug end to the matching end that goes into the respective L/R can. Can anyone fill me in?

first it helps immensly to have a multi meter - you can get one very cheap at radio shack, maybe even walmart. you dont need anything fancy.
or
once you solder the wires, or even before you solder, know that the tip of the connector is ALWAYS left.. so if you connect one end to the tip, and another end to a wire or check each terminal or wire one by one..once your meter beeps.. that is the left...
some people use batteries and a small light bulb when they dont have a multimeter, but i dont know how to do that.
