Audio-Technica Announces Revised ART Monitor Series, New Open Headphones - Page 6

I was looking at the A900s and I remember reading this thread..Just checked again and thanks to PurpleAngel for the link. I will get my new Audio-Technica ATH-A900X Art Headphones in a weeks worth of time. Will let everyone know how they are. Can't wait.  About $313 with shipping. Not bad. I am encouraged as I was impressed with their newer portable WS55s and the bass it produces. I know these are in a completely different tier but if the Bass is anything like what is on the WS portables I think we will all be in for a treat. woot-21618.jpg It would suck if their ATH-500X sounded exactly like the ATH-900X with a tad less definition. These better be worth double the cost damn it. YOU HEAR ME AT!!!

Let us know how it goes, wondering if it's worth to side-trade from the original A900s as I'm kind of annoyed with the cheap leatherette they used on the padding. I wonder if the pads are compatible with the original A900? :)

So Dsnuts, did you ever get your A900x yet? I'm dying to hear some impressions, as I'm sure other people are as well. Or too busy listening to your Monoprices eh? Haha.

Oh believe me I keep on checking my status on where my A900X is. I don't know if it shipped or if Thanksgiving has slowed down the process. Well I am sure black Friday craziness won't help the process at all.  Believe me you guys will be the first I will update  once I get them. Expect many photos. I hope they sound better than my monoprice 8320. Lol!  I am getting anxious as they were supposed to be delivered this week but I suspect more like next week.

I am thinking these will sound closer to their higher end offerings than mid tier ones, crossed my fingers..Based on the tech they threw on these, aluminum housing, double dampening and such. I hope they keep true to what they said in the description about the bass. I almost gave up on AT after the poo I heard with the Pro700Mk2 but it was the WS55 that won me back. I suppose AT much like every other manufacturer has their hits and misses. Considering the A900X is more geared toward their main audience I have hopes that these will be an improvement over the previous models.

Yeah I know the feeling. I've been waiting for some HE-300 to show up for a while now. Here's hoping the postal fairy grants all of our wishes. smily_headphones1.gif

Are there any reviews out there of the TAD-500 yet? I'm wondering if it'd be worth it to upgrade to them coming from my AD700.

My 900x should be delivered tomorrow or the day after. Upgrading from my ATH-A700 and for the price it was cheaper to actually go with the 900x compared to the old 900. I'll post some pictures and my initial thoughts even though I'm not really experienced a lot of good headphones

I'm very interested to hear what you think. I also had the A700 and really liked them. If the A900x is significantly better I will definitely try it out in the future.

damn i really dont know if this is a good or bad new for me

i've ordered the AD700 one week ago and now with these new AIR line maybe the price of the AD700 could drop nicely, or maybe these new models are reasonable better than the AD700

Well, actually the update was to the ART line, which are closed, as opposed to your open-backed AD700, so you don't have too much to worry about. Who knows though, it stands to reason that Audio Technica might update the AIR line as well.

yes but the TAD-500 is an new headphone from AIR line, and maybe it can have better overall performance than the AD700

i hope no, but lets see what they have to offer

Ah, I see what you mean. Still, I'm not sure the TAD-500 was meant to compete with the AD-xxx, though I'm just speculating. Based on the original post of this thread it is priced less than half of what the A700x costs. Just have to wait until somebody tries it to get any real answers.

The tracking this morning shows it is at my local post office, so hopefully I get it today. I just hope it's an improvement over my A700 in the areas it describes.

Btw, they are on sale at Audio Cubes for $250. Still pretty expensive compared to what I paid($175) but at least it's much easier to ship through Audio Cubes then the route I went, which was family.

Yeah, these are pretty expensive since they just came out. Hopefully the prices will go down in time or once more retailers besides Audiocubes start selling them, as they generally have higher prices than others. Unless they really do compete with other ~$300 headphones which would be awesome.

Just got them. They do feel better then the A700 but I'll update later once I get used to them.
