Forgive the title, but seriously, I couldn't find where new members are supposed to introduce theirselves in the community before jumping into existing discussions. If it needs to be placed elsewhere, please feel free to move it.
Anyway, as you may have already noticed (or deduced, I think they indicate the number of posts here), I'm new in this community, which I have just stumbled upon when looking for high-end audio gears (devices, gadgets, the works). I think you might also call me, (or 'us' for new members who are also browsing the forums) as 'audiophyte'. I just read the term elsewhere.
I was drawn here because of the promising content I've read for the past few hours (it's close to midnight here, by the way). And this forum would undeniably contribute knowledge for would-be audiophiles. Moreover, I needed some opinions and reviews about certain 'audio' devices as I would like to build one piece by piece.
Cutting it short on the introduction,
I'm a music enthusiast (but not a musician), I like to hear different songs from various artists and their respective genres. I admit, for now, I don't have a good ear for sound analysis and still confused with how lows, mids and highs should sound (IMHO that's pretty much subject to the listener's preferences). Hence, I would post discussions mostly concerning audio performance on music.
Currently, the only good portable system I own would be my Creative X-fi2(I really think I'd get flamed for mentioning this gadget, but I got used to it in the 3 months time I've been using it.), and a Sennheiser HD448 i recently bought.
For my desktop I use a creative sbs a320(i got it for free when I bought the x-fi2), I have an SBS audio sandbox software installed and winamp for a media player.
On to my first question...I would like to post it here..
I'm deciding wether to get the FiiO e6 as a headphone amp.
Would it be recommendable to use the e6 even when the x-fi crystalizer is on?..
I'm aiming for overall audio improvement (I think these cans are a bit leaky even if they're closed designed, but the sound stage is more than impressive for an average listener like me).
I'm more on clear definitive bass, not boomy bass like the ones you get when you set the bass control of a low-end system to max, since blanketing sound seems, well...pointless in improving SQ. I listen mostly to techno and trance music. Although I do like most genres.
Anyway, please feel free to comment or criticize(construcively, please) on this thread, thanks!
