I hate Australia Post

Why can't Australia Post be cheap like USPS?

USPS charges per pound, AusPost charges per 250g.

And any package sent to the US over 500g incur another $9 security charge.

My package was 536g, and that was after I tried my best to not overpack.

If it was less than 500g, it would have been only $17.25 instead of $24, and I wouldn't need to pay that ridiculous $9.

Dang you AusPost and dang that stupid 36g overweight.

USPS seems to be going bankrupt AFAIK so they may not charge enough actually.  I'm not sure they'll be around very much longer to be honest, the way things are going in the US with all the "government is evil" crap.  Pretty sad, I love the Post Office.  And I can't imagine how much mailing a letter would cost if there was no USPS to keep the prices low.  5 dollars?

I remember sending something back to Japan for warranty, it cost something like $65. And for them to send it back, it only cost $28!.

Both methods were EMS/express, weird eh?

Blame the US govt. The $9 covers extra screening and other security measures required by the US govt for larger packages.

Some countries just suspended the sending of parcels >1lb in weight to the US... would you rather that happen??

Yeah same. But really, our economy won't be strong for long when people (majority of us) buy stuff overseas leaving retailers crying at the corner. Even AusPost say that packages coming from States are so many that it creates long delays.

...and then we are going to go through another financial crisis when that carbon tax starts to affect the individuals.
