pretty neat for sure!

 

i cant imagine what it took to get a decent sound quality out of this considering the extreme range of recording devices, qualities, and formats they surely had to deal with

Eric Whitacre writes pretty fine choral music: nothing ground-breaking for sure, but every vocal part, every melodic line fits together like a perfectly tailored suit.  In his music there is something hopeful and uplifting -- not at all like the inward-spiral rumination of the "holy minimalists" (with whom Whitacre is often compared), nor is it pop-ish stuff like John Rutter's.  The Hyperion collection Cloudburst is a good introduction of his music recorded in immaculate sound.

Wow you really talk like you have some experince with this stuff. Thanks for sharing your views. I have no clue about the general classic area of music as I'm the type of person who makes the audio equipment not the content. But I do loove sweet, sweeet content and have loads of RL musican or media/radio friends that feed me info here and there.
