Really? Are IEMs generally more detailed than headphones? That's news to me.

 

My headphones are - song by song, device by device - significantly more detailed any IEM I've heard. That said, I value an IEM for its ability to isolate you from external noise.

it depends on the headphones and the iems. Some headphones are incredibly detailed and some iems are mudslingers.

I think the perception of their being more detailed may come from the isolation, especially if you're comparing good, well-sealed iems to open (maybe not so good) headphones.
