I havent heard it myself, but Its in the same league as the Hm801, maybe better to some people.

What about just getting a nice 3.5mm-to-6.35mm adapter?  Grado sells one.

That way, you can open up your options more...

i have that adapter :-)

its coming with my ps1000 in box.

but there is some degradation in sound with and without the adapter.

 

the problem with this big player that they are NOT pocket-ready designs like sansa fuze or cowon j3.

 

what is the smallest flac player which has extraordinary sound ?  (okey then minijack 3.5mm also allowable)

Well, you mentioned the J3 (my current player)...I've also used the S9 and D2+.  Right now, I don't see the other brands coming close to Cowon, except for maybe Sansa.

I purchased an adapter from ALO Audio as well.  It wasn't cheap but I didn't notice any sound degradation.
