Allright, I found many different types of tubes (100+) at my grandfauther's, however none were EF95.EF92,EF91. So I decided to look up each 6v tube's specs and found a few with the same pin configuration. I even found 2 octodes that would work! I tested ALL the potentialy fatal tubes on my little dot MK3. My rig is the following: Xonar essence stx-->RCA Monster cables-->little dot--> AKG K701. I Always play flac or wave files. All the tubes tested worked very well, however I can only tell you how 2 types sounded because they were the only ones I had in pairs. Here is the list:(note:I set my amp jumpers on EF92 settings.)
Single tubes:
-6CY5
-6DB6
-6BC5
-6BJ6
-6EW6
-6AR5
-6GM6
-6CS6 (Octode)
-6BE6 (Octode)
Pairs:
-GE 5654: Those came with my amp and are the only ones I can compare the others with.
-6CB6: A good improvement from the 5654. Stronger bass, clearer mids but treble remained similar.
-6GX6: Those are so good I hesitated to mention them in fear that they would become rare and cost more/hard to find. The details and clearness of those is just impresive. One is a Westinghouse the other is unknown.
Well there it is. It took one guy who risked his amp (me) to prove that other tubes can be used. I hope you all find this information helpful in finding your perfect tube.
IMPORTANT!: I CAN NOT BE HELP RESPONSABLE FOR DAMAGED AMP AS A RESULT OF USING THE ABOVE TUBES. USE THIS INFORMATION AT YOUR OWN RISK.
