I have ordered my A5 and now ia m looking for a sub to go with it. Im looking for a sub that isnt boomy. i like more of a tight bass sound. my budget is about $200 but might be able to go $300 but i would like to spend less if possible.  the system will be used with my computer which i use the speakers for music, movies, and games (BF3).

The only sub i have looked at is the audioengine S8 but $350 seems alot. so please help me out normal_smile%20.gif

Thanks in advice

You're looking for a sub to go with your system even though you havn't heard it yet?

I dont really care about size just dont want something that is huge as it will be used in my room and under my desk. i think i would like an 8 in or 10 in sub.

TBH I think a sub is overkill for a bedroom but its what you want... here is a few

http://www.amazon.com/Energy-ESW-C8-8-Inch-Subwoofer-Black/dp/B0021L9BMO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1316321334&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Energy-ESW-M6-Watt-Subwoofer-Black/dp/B001RQ1R8U/ref=pd_cp_e_pw_1

http://www.amazon.com/Energy-ESW-M8-1200-Subwoofer-Black/dp/B001RQ0A92/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1316321509&sr=1-4

I recommended only energy because they are the best small subs I have heard and the prices are pretty good. I would get the esw-m6 it sounds perfect for what you wanna do.

The Velodyne is a good one that fits right within your bracket.  And I've seen many mention it goes well with the A5's.  I went with the AS8, as I liked the matched system, the 30 day money back guarantee, and theres a perpetual coupon code that brings the price down $35.

they are the only small subs that I have heard that can be used in place of a powerful 12in sub really punchy and deep and look really good. I heard the 8in thou. Honestly i think they are perfect for you

The Energy ESW-C8 8-Inch looks good and fits ur budget. Energy is owned by klipsch and should be a good sub for the A5. Better to test it out before buying though. :)

The problem with small subs is that they are rarely really clean (quite muddy/boomy) and do not really reach into the sub range without some trickery of some sort. It's better to go with a sealed sub of modest power that is larger (like 10 inch min ) with 12 in being ideal but somewhat cumbersome....however I have had good luck with this one from parts express http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-633   With the ports on the back stuff them with high density foam to seal off the cab if you have to shove the sub right against the wall. For 130 USD it's a steal.

Peete.
