Bass quality however they did outpeformed the HFI 780 on most tracks.

I highly recommend everyone to spend at least 30 minutes on this IEM before buying it. It is not an IEM that you will get used to, there is no placebo, the sound signature is something very strange.

The fact that I consider ER4S as a IEM with decent bass shows you that my ears are very sensitive to bass and sub-bass, the XBA-4  have a strange issue with bass and sub-bass. I was able to get used to ER4S after 4 months and now whenever I listen to them I can get into the music and enjoy it right away. I have being exclusively using XBA-4 nothing else so I give my brain some time to get used to the sound signature, 3 months and many hours later I still get shocked (in a bad way) whenever I listen to certain tracks. Good luck guys, hope the rest of you dont have the same bad experience as I do.

I also forgot to add the XBA-4 sound the best out of my old sony walkman (NWS model). To my ears the sony loaded with lossy mp3 320 files sound the best. That bothered me since technically that does not make sense, lossy cannot sound better than lossless. The user with walkman as their exclusive portable unit will be happy, but since I am not one it bothered me since it just does not make sense to me how can that be possible!

hm 601 with ibasso T5 sound close to the sony walkman. hm 601 alone with its own amp sounded good on low volumes, passed the 50% mark there is distrotation, quiet a bad one.

I see, though there are many IEMs and headphones that we can all get used to, there are many that we can't, too. But if you really dislike the XBA-4s, you should really try test selling them at the lowest price loss. If it doesn't work out, at least you know you have tried.

Are these released in US? Howcome Amazon says they arent yet?

Also, is the price difference between XBA-1 and XBA-2(around $100) worth it for a noob audiophile?

These are not released in the US yet.  The ones I had were a product sample loaner from Sony of America.  I no longer have them.

I think it's in March, don't quote me though.  Check the Sony Webstore, it should be up there (you can pre-order right now)

Yea they told me March also for Australia release. I asked the sony rep. He did not give me any date on the release date of their new walkman. I dont think Australia is getting it.

did he say anything about sonystyle store demos in say chatty or near central (world trade bldg), or as always, sony australia is too poor/dodgy/ohns conscious to give people a chance to hear them biggrin.gif ? (aka we don't demo iems)

Oh ok. Thanks guys! Do a lot have the XBA-1 already? How is it so far? How is it compared to HF3?

I asked them and like always they said, "due to health reason we cannot do that". I have never even seen them do the same for their headphones, sure IEM might have health risk but how about headphones?

they've always demoed full size cans. but refused to demo iems for that reason. A good workaround is people having disposable tips. I guess their logic is full size cans don't go into your ear and you don't need to hear those $500 iems you buy. (oh by the way, we just added $150 to the outside of aus RRP, because we hate you and we cut the warranty to 90 days, even though our crappy cables frequently disintegrate within 6 months and are not removable)

I'm sure the australian price for xba-4 will be $500 is not more.

(I've had plenty of bad customer service and reliability from sony and I'd probably rather shoot myself in the foot then buy their IEMs again, unless they come with at least 12 months wty and a removable cable)

^They said around the $400. Initially they had it for $499 but they removed the price tag from their website.  My advice is STAY away from them. They sound and feel like $200 dollar earphone.

And ofcouse the z-walkman by the look of things is not going to be released in Australia.

Try it all before XBA-1 its really boring, As for 2 its good for money... XBA-3 and 4 is up to personal preference?

Both XBA-3 and 4 its really good and soundstage its very very good both of them have some characteristic with JH13 and 16...

P.S keep in mind XBA-4 is HUGE might not fit to those people with small ear!
