DT 770 Pro vs Premium

What are the differences between the two or is it just aesthetics?

Heya,

I found this clicking search, and voila, you benefit!

(Clamp force, bass, etc. I had them. The Pro's are bassier and clamp harder, pretty bright highs too. The premium is more refined but really not that far off).

Very best, tongue_smile.gif

Differences between the 250ohm driver versions, hardly any that matter. Better constructed headband. Less fancy look. Slightly more clamp, not by much, which is responsible for the common claim that they have "tighter" bass I suppose. Coiled rather than flat cable.

Same goes for all the Pro versions. Understated aesthetics (compare the appearance of the adjustment mechanisms, though they're functionally the same), the same 250ohm drivers as their 250ohm Premium counterparts, a more rugged headband, coiled cable and a little more pressing force due to the robust headband design. I find the additional clamping unnoticeable on the 990 Pro, and only marginally noticeable on the 770 Pro. I personally prefer them as a pretty clear price-to-performance winner, and see no reason to select the Premium 250ohm over the Pro; there's a lot less difference between the 250ohm and 600ohm drivers than between the 32-ohm and the 250ohm driver, given a good enough amp with sufficient damping factor oscillation behavior is very similar given the relationship between driver mass and impedance. I know they lean heavily on the 600ohm as the audiophile choice, but it's my opinion that the distinction is overstated between the two higher impedance choices.

I think I may pickup the Pro's then to save some money if the differences are miniscule.

Heya,

They're a fun headphone, bassy, comfortable, look good, bright energetic highs. Fun to equalize too. Bump the mids up a tad, drop the highs a tad, and then just let the tunes roll.

Very best,

DT 770 Pro's it is then. :P

I'll pickup an e5 or e6 amp to go along with em.
