The only whiskey I really enjoy is Irish. Scotch is great but nearly all of the affordable bottles taste like ass. Irish whiskeys are ALOT more forgiving on the lower end of the price range. My bottle of choice is usually Red Breast as it is a good compromise between quality and price.
That said, I almost never drink something that strong specifically for audio listening. My preference usually leans towards a nice beer, preferably a stout like Rasputin or Speedway. If not, never have a problem settling with a Stone or other Northcoast brew.
