New version of Xonar Essence ST with lifetime warranty?

I was looking online at Newegg today for a new video card when I noticed a new (to me) listing for the Essence ST.

Is this new to anyone else or is it old news?  I haven't recalled seeing discussion about this before.  Is it an improved version of the regular ST in any way?  Better built with better components?  Or are you just paying $50 more for the warranty?

thats the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard, lifetime warranty on computer hardware?, who keeps their audio card/computer for more than 2-3 years max?

It's probably just Asus experimenting with enhanced warranty support in some of their product sectors and the Essence just got caught up in it.

Its all the more funny that they offered this for the ST and not the STX.  Good luck finding a motherboard in 2 years that has a PCI slot.
