I finally caved into the hype and pulled the trigger on the VSonic GR07's. While it was a tough decision, these seemed to slot in nicely in my search for a noticeable improvement in sound quality and a sound signature that will make me happy with a variety of music genres. While waiting out the shipping from Singapore, I've set my basshead friend on obtaining the Atrio's so that I might have a taste for comparison in the future, and I've no doubt he'll be pleased after reading the responses in this thread.

Thanks to everyone for the input. I'll try to have some sort of review in a couple of weeks after I receive them and burn them in (if I'm not too lazy or forgetful).

Congrats, you made a good choice in the end. I also agree your friend will love the Atrio's. If they have any trouble with fit, tell them get the Shure black foam tips. I am a big fan of these because they are very comfortable, suit the Atrio's really well and just last and last.
