Denon AH-D2000?

Thread Starter

Well after many hours of research on at least a dozen different headphones, a TON of help from you guys here at Head-Fi, and a lot of my mom yelling at me to get off my iPod, I think I have finally made a decision on my first nice pair of headphones. From the title, I am sure you have already guessed what I have decided on: the Denon AH-D2000. My original idea was to get the Beats by Dre Pro, but I read a lot and heard a lot from you guys that the Denons were better for almost half the price. So I was wondering if is the best choice for me. I had considered both open and closed cans, but I found that the closed were what I needed. So please feel free to give your opinion on my decision. Thanks!

P.S.- I will be buying a Fiio e7 if I get these and I am making my purchase around Christmas time.

Do it

Not best for portable, but good overall cans that don't need a amp. The FiiO E7 is a good choice, but also is a Ibasso D-zero

Great all around set of cans, I enjoyed the D2K so much it was just a natural progression to get the D7K's.

Heya,

Get the D2000. It works great even without an amp. I have one. It sounds wonderful out of my Sansa Fuze. The bass does tighten up on those super low bass tones with amplification. But by all means, it's not necessary. The Denons do great sub bass, and are flat all the way down, so you get all your lovely mids too. Excellent headphone. It's what I would call a near perfect headphone for it's mid-tier range.

Very best,

I have to disagree. Pairing the D2000's with a headroom MicroAmp made a huge difference! Plugged straight to my iPod they really weren't worth the upgrade from my 212 but with a dedicated amp they really come alive!

Very best,

Whilst I agree they are pretty good I would not say they have a flat response... They are pretty amplified in the bass and treble and the midrange is quite recessed.
