I've been researching quite a bit and I'm leaning towards getting the FiiO E10.  Seems pretty simple/straightforward and affordable.  Lots of good reviews.

edit:  Received my e10 today (11/29) and it really is nice.  A great improvement immediately from simply using the headphone jack on iMac.  Sounds awesome.
