I think I just saw the most ridiculous IEM re-cable in my life today on the subway.

12 Gauge Speaker cables, it didn't really stand out a lot because the guy wearing it was quite big as well but man.....

I'm sure those IEMs must need all that current to drive.

Well, the original version of this meme was a racist guy talking to a nice black person and nothing happens, but then he goes on the internet and spread bigotry and racism. It was a mockery of the general racism on the 4chan board, /pol/ (or was it /new/?).

The spec you cite is not the amp's output impedance. It would be its output as measured at a particular input load, in this case a 32 ohm headphone. As such it would be generous into a 16 ohm IEM, but not outrageous.
