Anyone know of a UK distributor for these tubes? Would love to have a listen to them in my Woo5.

This quick review is done after a few hours of listening. I bought them from B&H for the decent sum of 150$. If you've done your research you'll find out that Ultrasone HPs are known for their...

1800 EUR, that's ridiculous! Vintage WE prices for a new production tube?

I took the plunge and bought a pair for my Woo direct from Japan, hopefully will be here in a few days as they were sent last week. I paid around 100,000 Yen which is £900 here.
A lot easier to swallow than 1800 EUR!

Congrats on the purchase! Did you order from Amtrans? I'm about ready to pull the trigger on these myself and I'm looking for a good source. Thanks!

Yes I did, there's a lady there, Keiko, who speaks very good English and was more than happy to take my order after filled in the enquiry page.
They havn't arrived yet - Ill post some impressions on packing and delivery when I get them. Tracking shows them as in customs here in England and they were posted on the 6th March, very efficient thus far.

Congrats, great choice! What other 300B's you have to compare with Takatsuki's?

Hi Blackmore,
I have the JJ300B and the EML300B Mesh plates. Ive enjoyed both these brands in my Woo, the EML's only for the past 2 months however. I'm hoping this will be the purchase that cures my tuberollitis - for now at least!

EML300 Mesh's are great choice as well, pity I cant use them in my Cary. Never tried JJ's, but read good comments about their quality and performance, especially for the money they cost. Let us know as soon as you can about Takatsuki's please.

I saw this STC 4300B while looking for the Takatsuki 300B
The price is very very high so I would like to know how are they? and can they be used as 300B power tubes?
What is their electrical specificity = 300B?

My order with Amtrans has been confirmed
. I also thought I would mention that I was told that in the middle of next month this tube will increase in price by 30,000 Yen (get your orders in now folks). The base will be black, but otherwise it will be the same tube.
Heheh, famous last words.
FYI, I received confirmation that EAT has gone back to the drawing board and is releasing a totally redesigned 300b in September. It should be a killer tube, and I'm really looking forward to it. If the WE reissues come through this year that would be the trifecta! 2012 is shaping up to be a great year for 300b.

A much less common tube even than the WE 300b original, but supposed to be even better sounding (I have never heard a pair). If you can get your hands on these at any kind of reasonable price, go for it. I have smaller STC DHT tubes used in a preamp and they are great sounding tubes.
Pretty much the same as the 300b in specs, direct sub, it looks like the right pin configuration.

They are expensive comparing to the Takatsuki 300B but less than the original WE 300B before 1988
I will try to communicate with the seller about the test result to know how much have they been used, what is the test value for new tubes?
I could not find the info anywhere

Awesome, congratz :)
Lets hope that the price rise means that Takatsuki are tooling or doing R&D into more reissues of these classic designs. I'm keeping an eye on the status of thier 274B issue as well.
I had confirmation today that my pair have cleared customs, all being well I should have these things installed and running by Saturday!
