HD 25-1 Circumaural Mod?

I've tried to do the same idea for Grado, came up with nothing that worked

Increasing the distance from the ears and changing the pads (potentially changing the density will affect the sound; whether it's an improvement or detriment depends on your tastes. You can try something like the wood C-Pad adapter from Headphile, but personally the disadvantage there is the HD-25 is primarily a portable, so using wood won't in that department.

As a general rule, supra-aural headphones are designed to sound good with a very small volume of air between the driver and your ear.

Circumaural headphones need to sound good with a larger volume of air around the ear, which leads to very different designs.

This might not be that true for Grado, which are open, but that volume really matters for closed headphones.

Bottom line, if you are talking different enclosures, you should have just gotten a larger, more comfortable headphone to begin with.

I don't think there are C-pads for the HD25; what I was suggesting is to make something like it. Try some solid, round surface where you can stick some circumaural pads and the inner diameter can fit onto the HD25 driver housing. Wood's the easiest to cut but for moisture resistance, try plastic. Like find an old gym bag and use the hard plastic lining on the interior bottom, cut it accordingly, and use strong but removable adhesive to stick the pads and the driver housing. Try blutack and just trim out the excess when you squeeze it.

the guy from this blog did it, and then he was selling them on ebay. he aldo made a thread here about it but couldnt find it.

I bought some sound isolating circumaural hd25s.  They sound great, though the sound is not any tighter or more resolved.  They are far less quirky about how you position them now.
