Hello all,
I'm having a pair of Westone 4 earphones and I want to buy a big-brother headphone set for them... I was thinking to AKG or Sennheiser brand (maybe HD650 or HD25-II model). Meanwhile, I've realized that I need also a DAC+AMP, in order to use both of them at maximum of their capacity. Because of this, I've made myself a list with 4 products and I need your advice regarding them:
1. Styleaudio Carat-RUBY2 DAC/Headphone Amplifier ($300 - on eBay)
2. CEntrance DACmini CX DAC/Headphone Amplifier ($795)
3. CEntrance DACport, portable, 24/96 USB DAC and Headphone Amplifier ($400)
4. Dr. DAC prime ($470):
I was thinking at CEntrance DACport, because of the specs, built quality and jitter reduction system, proprietary to CEntrance. As a second option for desktop use, with S/PDIF and COAX port I was looking at that CEntrance DACmini. Does it worth $800 for what it does? Would you recommend me something else?
So, basically, the DACmini CX I would use it with Westone 4 and a full-size earphones, while the DACport I'd like to have it with me at work, as portable version with my Westone 4 earphones.
By the way, for a MacBook Pro USB port, they are enough 24-bit / 96kHz for a device which uses exclusively USB 2.0? Does exist something with higher bitrate?
Regards,
Andrei
