Which dacs or amp/dacs are capable of extracting the digital output of an ipod?

Hi,

Normally I would very much enjoy doing the research on this myself, but I have been asked to go on an assignment at very short notice that will involve many long flights and a few months away from home and my beloved Hifi and headphone (phonitor to ultransone ) set ups.

I amlooking to get the best possible sound out of an ipod running AIFF files, and will buy new phones and an amp or amp/dac comBo.

I am however overwhelmed by the options and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction regarding a portable set up that bypasses the ipod analogue output and uses the digital output into a better external portable dac and amp - so far I have found the fostex only.

Again, apologies for taking a short cut on this but the flights start next week and I would like to place the order in the coming fay or two.

I'm guessing that you are looking for a portable solution ? Theres only two solutions I know of right now. They are compared here :
