Custom IEM DYNAMIC driver reshelling service ≤ Ø14mm - $220 - Page 4

hmm I wonder if klipsch X5 can be reshelled

The best way is to phone up the courier services. Their online ship things aren't very good and don't allow for multiple options (added to the fact that they have a limit in characters for shipping addresses, which basically makes it impossible to put a Chinese address on it).

No, theoretically it shouldn't. All you need is a small hard cardboard box and some bubble wrap. Remember you're not sending this through any local post system, and both FedEx and DHL handle their items with care. Just tell them on the phone they are delicate items and most of it will get taken care of.

I advise you phone up DHL and ask them for details. DHL Rest of the World shipping actually takes from 1-6 days (usually 4 to China) whereas FedEx takes 1-3 days (usually 2).

Kilipsch X5 can be reshelled, as it is a balanced armature. This thread is for dynamic IEMs, not balanced armatures. Most armatures can be reshelled with relative ease.

IndieScent we can include a balanced armature reshell, as long as we get 6 reshells or more total it should be fine.

I'm not very familiar with the Klipsch X5, but I've heard Klipsch use proprietary drivers (their own) which is a good reason to reshell. ;)

Which Klipsch drivers are proprietary? Do you know anything about Final Audio's drivers? :)

Okay, that sounds better, thanks for the advice.

I think I misread average_joe's thread, he said USPS First Class International took three weeks to Rooth, and never arrived to Gui Ling (so it was lost in the system), he then said he used FedEx to send to Gui Ling (another set of impressions...), but didn't specify how long it took, he said it took them about 3 weeks to complete the customs.

Yeah, FedEx International Priority takes 3 days max. I just got a quote from my place of residence to China and it would be delivered on or before Thursday September 15th before 12PM.

Nice =)

I think you're right a cardboard box should be fine, but after the audiologist and my partner in Singapore both told me to use a hard container (even though my audiologist gave me a cardboard box) I became paranoid.

Let's say I'm an enthusiast :)

Hard container, especially if sending over seas....  In the US, us audiologists just use a small simple box, but our impressions aren't going to be tossed around over and over again. A good sturdy box, or container would be my advice. (but you may never see it agains, so don't use and Otter Box)

Thanks for you advice.

you guys are sooo crazy.
With BAs there is little dependence of sound on housing material and dampening (the only thing the sound goes through is the tubes/acoustic filter, since BAs are otherwise sealed)

With dyn drivers, the sound very much depends on the tuning vs housing. UM probably wouldn't touch it, because it's insane to think they can tuned a single dynamic or 2 drivers and in an acrylic housing.

save some money, and get some BA customs
