Matrix Quattro DAC and amp loaner program - Page 2

I am in full listening mode with the Matrix gear this week.  I've had some late nights throwing everything I can at it.

 

I've set it up to get music from my iMac via optical.  I have the Benchmark right next to it so I can do some comparisons.

 

This Saturday Cee Tee and I plan to a final listen and some intense comparisons to the Benchmark, then the units will be shipped off to the next listener.  

 

Impressions will come soon!  I think it's time to reveal some of what we've been hearing even though there are more lined up to listen.  

 

If there is anything in particular someone is wanting checked, tested, headphones used, source type, music selected etc... let me know and I'll see if I can fit it in before the gear ships out.

Unless John wants us to hold up with them until more people have listened to avoid influencing things...  I plan to get some impressions out either very late next week...

Feel free to post away. I'm not giving my full review until after the loaner program, but that's a little different. Each of you is free to post whenever and whatever you like.

 

I know sarals was waiting a bit but will post soon, so we should have a range of impressions up in the near future. I wonder what the best format would be.... post them here? Or in the actual "Head Gear" section of the website? Or both?

Hi, I'd really like to try the combo out. I've been at head-fi for about a year now, but I'm busy paying for school, so I haven't had the chance to hear a system including an external DAC other than in meet conditions. It's not much, but I also have two feedbacks from selling and buying some things on head-fi.

Hi project86,

I met up with @shipsupt yesterday & got the Matrix combo back. I will need to sort through my notes to post over the next few days.

I am trying to plan a quick visit with @purrin next Saturday & if it works out, I will bring @purrin and @anaxilus the Matrix combo plus my Benchmark to borrow and compare...

Thanks again for the loan as well as your patience, some impressions should be up soon!

The list is not in exact order. It does make sense to hand it off to another member rather than shipping it, so by all means do that.

Excellent!  Will drive the units + my Benchmark down to purrin and anaxilus next weekend...

They are close, but "picking nits" is what do.  I have my <overall feeling> verified tonight as I listen more casually again.

 

Will post some notes/thoughts within the next couple of days.  Sorry for the tease!

No worries :P I'm not in the loaner program anyway :) I would have asked to join as I have some comparable gear now but no time to do a proper listen so wouldn't be fair but I do look forward to some thoughts on this combo.
