As the name suggests, an orgasm for your ears. Commonly occurs when highly awesome music is played through highly awesome headphones or speakers.
Dude, I totally had an eargasm when I was listening to Pink Floyd through my new Skullcandies!

 

I thought I would be cool and funny to come up with term eargasm, but its already listed on urbandictionary. In any case, I ran across this site when looking for a way to fix a broken cord to my QC3's and have to admit I had no idea the world of headphones that existed.  I am in awe.  As an average consumer I was sucked into the marketing done by Bose and decided to buy one of their sets.  They are a nice set of headphones, but after reading some of the forums here I sprung for some Grado SR80's.  A very reasonable price point so I thought what the heck.  As I said before I am in awe.  Not knowing the technical makeup of music and what is what, I just listen to music and at this point are the best headphones I have heard.  Anyway, I'm not bragging or trying to sell Grado, my real message is that I have found audio crack and have opened a new world of entertainment.  Some of the site members that have spent countless hours trying different sets and doing write-ups is amazing and has helped a lot.  Thanks, my wife is going to hate me with the amount of money I could spend  :)  Keep up the great reviews and site.

I think that example might give some the wrong concept of the word 'eargasm'

Am I imagining things, or was there another thread almost exactly like this one? Heh, whatever.

 

I just recently had an 'eargasm' while listening to the EX1000's and playing Imogen Heap's "Headlock." When the song was done, I ripped the EX1000's from my ears and handed them to my 'girlfriend' (we are in the dating phase...) and told her to listen to these. She to had an 'eargasm' lol

My first eargasm was with a pair of Stax SR-5's powered by a modded Stax SR-3A amp.  I was listening to an album by the excellent Finnish band Loituma, and at the beginning of a track, I could actually hear the singer's mouth open before she began to sing.  It was like another shade of black.  My last eargasm was at a head-fi meet in Lawrence, Kansas, listening to a pair of modded Yamaha YH-1 orthos (which had been mine before the modding).  I was listening to some chamber music on blue vinyl (direct-disc), played thru a Fisher 500 receiver, to the Yammies.  I was able to directly perceive the speed with which a bow was being drawn across the strings.  I could almost hear the rosin.

I get goosebumps when awesome music is being played through what I assume to be awesome speakers.

 

Headphones... Unlikely .
