A few more comments:

Surround/DSP/Room Correction: Nope. We've done surround before, and it's now a very specialized biz where HDMI interfaces are absolutely critical. There are only a handful of companies doing HDMI well, and they have the stomach to tolerate ongoing changes in the spec (1.3, 1.4, etc . . .) Mike and I are of the opinion we won't be getting back into surround. DSP and room correction--again, that ain't us. Our own digital filters, yeah, but not DSP for crossovers and such.

The "midrange" balanced amp (which really is an end-game product, in terms of performance) will be solid state. The "statement" balanced amp will be a hybrid.

Hi Jason,

Do you have the power output specs of these amps yet.  Can they drive the K1000 and the HE-6 with headroom to spare?

Now that the Bifrost is finally out of back order, I'm guessing an announcement about the midrange DAC and amp by the end of this month.

How about crossfeed? :)

I sort of miss the days of yore when more end game headphone amps came with crossfeed.  Sometimes I break out my portable amp for listening just for some proper crossfeed.  I don't know what it is, but I've never liked a software crossfeed.  I've tried just about any and every one that is available for foobar and I don't like them.

Can we speculate here? Ok, based upon what Schiit's entry level units did against the competition, including its pricing, how well do we predict the balanced/statement gear will do against some of the most well regarded systems?

X2, I am dying to see what these amplifiers will be like - I have my DAC (Ref 7) and headphones (HE-6) sorted just not quite sure about amplifier yet (even though I pre-ordered EF-6 I have this nagging compulsion to go with balanced topology amplifier but can't quite afford DarkStar)

I will keep some money aside just in case...

Can't wait to check this Schiit out! If the mid-range balanced amp really is a "end-game product" as stated by Jason then i'm sure it'll do wonders for many of the top cans on the market but just hope the amp doesn't exceed the $350-$450 price range. Schiit Audio having new products releasing hopefully will not mean a whole new level of "prices". Of course their "reference" class items will MIGHT just reach the $1k mark, but that's just a guess. 

Nevermind, just read that the mid-range will be at least $750... let's see where this leads to...

Would be interesting to compare Bryston BHA-1 ($1300), Auralic Taurus ($1800) and Schiit balanced amps...
