Amping the sleeping beast -- HD580 (E7 dac --> E9 / MeiXing mc66)

I currently have the E7 and am planning to use it as a DAC... The most common upgrade FWIR will be the E9, however my friend is selling a Meixing mc66 AE for ~170

I have not heard of the E9 but the Meixing sounds very good (compared to the only amp I have, the E7). The noise is quite loud though, a bit unacceptable especially within the first 15min of tube warm-upping.

Need some more wisdom in this, I did find some reviews over the mc66 but they are all quite old. Does anyone still own/remember this amp?

Get the E9 instead. As a tube amp, the Meixing there has very high distortion and a low signal-to-noise ratio (0.8% and 92dB respectively). The published frequency response is somewhat unreliable with its +/- 1dB variation. Not to mention its 42W power consumption. The E9 will give your more fidelity and help save the planet!

Unfortunately the E9 has some noise issues as well. Nothing serious.

:S what is distortion and 'signal-to-noise ratio' if they aren't the same thing. Thank god I asked here haha
