Help me chose a Cowon model and HDD concerns

Hi. I'm most interested in a high capacity model. Obviously X7 comes mighty in this aspect. What concerns me is, i'm quite an active person. I use to bike, jump, run,... and i'm fairly concerned with damaging the hdd if i'm listening to music while doing this. Even jumps in the playback would be annoying. That's what leans me towards a flash+card model. From what i read all cowon models have a very simmilar sound, so i'd probably pick a new one to benefit from latest firmware/software/EQ/UI enhancements as well. I don't undesrtand what 'prestige', 'premium', etc mean in cowons site, but if i'm not mistaken, the S9 and X7 are the latest 'top SQ' models. J3 has many good comments, but i guess the S9 is just as good in SQ and better overall(it's more recent).

I'd really like to get the X7 because i'm always running short of space in music libraries, but if you see my sport activities a potential hazard for the internal hdd, then which one should i take? S9? J3?

Thanks.

Actually, the J3 is the newer model - and the S9 is yesterdays favorite son. I'd go with the J3, as it has the more advanced feature set for sound enhancements over the S9, it has longer battery life, it has a micro SD expansion slot (the S9 has none), and the overall design is more pocket friendly.

As for the Cowon X7 - it's not good for the active person, so pass on it. It's got the same SQ as the Cowon J3 tho, as does the Cowon i9 and the new Cowon C2.

There's also the Cowon D3, and it's the Android player of the bunch. IMO it's still too buggy, so I'd pass on that as well.

Now, you mention 'prestige' & 'premium', and all that is is marketing hoopla. It means nothing.

I have a J3, and absolutely love it. Coming from a Zune HD, the user interface was pretty horrible to use, but I quickly found I could get around that by using custom UCI's found online to make the overall experience a million times better.

The sound quality and battery life on the J3 are great, and I 100% recommend it if you are looking for a pocket sized device, dedicated to music.

I agree with the previous post, in that the D3 still seems to be a little buggy, although it does have gingerbread now.

IMO, get a smartphone for all your apps, and play music on something made only for that purpose.

Hi again, after an intense week of research i made up my mind. I wear earbuds in the street, but because i can't afford a good IEM right now, i'm considering using my denon ah-d1001 out of home. They are just 32 ohm, so i guess an external amp isn't actually needed, right? I couldn't afford a good one anyway, the 32gb sd+j3 bundle is already costy. But if you have any particular recommendation (and consider it's gonna make a significant difference), as long as it's under ... say $80... go ahead and let me know. Thank's for all your support, can't wait to monday to order it.
