I have been having this stuttering audio problem on youtube.com or any software player[Itunes,Winamp etc.] except Foobar2000 with wasapi in Vista. My laptop is an older Dell Inspiron 1505 with 2gigs ram,ATI graphics and wirelessN ...I have tried the following: updating sata drivers, wireless drivers, usb.sigmatel audio drivers.DPC.Latency
Checker shows some red spikes as above image shows.I tried to disable drivers one by one in device manager but had no joy.
I have reverted back to an earlier time by using a Acronis Image backup which corrects the problem until I install any update which causes a reoccurence of the stuttering problem.
As I said Foobar2000 plays audio perfectly using wasapi which seems very weird to say the least.. Does anyone have any ideas why I am having this problem? I do not want to deep six the laptop yet.
I was thinking about getting an enternal USB DAC/headphone amp but this would be a big disappointment with this stuttering issue
Thanks very much.
P.S. Using the Dell Media Direct partition outside of Windows Vista plays DVDs and CDs with perfect audio!
