ULTRASONE NEW ANNOUNCED HEADPHONE Signature Pro - Page 133

$65 dollars, free shipping, Amazon Prime US. Picked one up.

And Rakuten should ship to UK.

Edit: Also have an SDJ willing to sell, or trade for SP.

Edit 2: dallan, I want to know which of the two you would keep (SP vs Ed8) - having owned both! Maybe wise to keep to yourself, however. PM me! It was a tough call for me.

Edit 3: Seriously, anywhere to get them new these days for less than $1300  ?? RMC spoiled me.

Referencing Edit 2 - I know you asked Dallan which he would keep but since I've owned both I figured why not weigh in.  Edition 8 all the way.  No contest to me.............comfort was much better, sound overall preferable as well.  The perfect portable in my mind, even with all the bling.

RMC is still in business (or in business again). Check them out ;)

Nice, email sent. Ultrasone got nasty with them and forced them to stop selling. So either RMC agreed to sell at the MAP price, or Ultrasone realized how many units RMC could move : )

Ultrasone got a new U.S.A. distributor. The discounts are no longer as steep, but they're still very nice. And umm.. let's avoid making direct dollar $$$ amount posts here. I don't want to hurt RMC (I may need to buy an Edition 8 from them ;))

I wouldn't post dollar amounts for that reason. But feel free to PM me a heads up on their current price standing! : )

And about this: I wonder what I would think now. I do believe the SP to be a more balanced and better sounding headphone, but that doesn't mean it's more fun. This wasn't a concept I was privy to when I owned both. I just remember having loads of fun with the Ed8, and I am wondering if I am missing that to a certain extent.

I remember the mids of the Ed8 sounding paper thin by comparison, and the highs being crazy hot, but not Pro 900 hot. Kinda want to try them again!

I really go back and forth between which I like better sound wise but I will say, the Ed8 is clearer but less balanced. The lack of winning that balance battle plays into it being a portable because you need the emphasis on sub bass and highs to make it work better in outside environment. The ed8 is also way more comfortable and less obtrusive. I think it stands out less because it conforms to your head. I trade off though and it is not to noisy in my nieborhood so the balanced sound of the sigpros and the fact that they are my new toy do have me grabbing them a bit more I have to admit. Glad I don't have to choose which to keep.

I wouldn't use it in outside environments, but I'm thinking I do want to evaluate again. Thanks for the info.

Is the Ed8 seemingly clearer perhaps because it has a hotter high end? I didn't remember it's detail retrieval besting the SP.

I had several members listen to both at the last big meet. They all thought the ed8 sounded more high end and better detail. Is don't think it is because the high ind is "hot". They do both have that house sound though that is very clear but ed8 is more transparent. Can't lose with either. I do like the balanced sound of the sigpros though and surprisingly I am grabbing them more often as I said before.

The only caveat is that the cable is stiffer than the stock + the connector does not lock like the stock cable. You can still insert and twist, but you don't get that tight lock, but it will not fall out.

But oh my the sound... I think it's worth checking out for Sig Pro owners out there.

I've got the Oyaide cable too. It really improves the sound of the Sig Pro if you find it a bit too dark-sounding. (I know some people experience the opposite.) Has anyone compared the Sig Pro with the Oyaide cable with a stock Ed 8?

I think as the package of the ED 8 has that certain bling bling something people find it sounds better. But only time an here "headtime" can tell which one is better.

I've had this cable for the ultrasones for nearly a year.

I didn't want to say this before as it'll start bickering and arguments, but I wholeheartedly agree.

The difference is very large

It's not like swapping RCA/Phono cables, or digital ones where the difference in my opinion is tiny if at all detectable by ear. It's more like swapping amps - that's how big of a change it is. The mid bass emphasis is gone and a bit of hardness in the upper midrange also recedes. Actually it's like a shift of energy, where it's better spent elsewhere. The sub bass gets a bit more and so to do the 3khz+ highs. The soundstage sounds wider then and overall it's more enjoyable.

Sig pro's remain my favourite closed headphones, better than the sig dj's, and the (dissapointing) T5p's. I've heard the alpha dogs many times and compared them to these sig pro's (with the oyaide cable). Neck and Neck.

I noticed what you're describing.

Really ?

I sold my beloved Sig Pro recently because I need money to pay my DNA Sonett for my HD800 but i'll be soon in the market for a closed can. I was ready to purchase another Signature pro but I was interested to try an alpha dogs too. What's the main differences between the two ?
