are you going to use it with rp100?

Just received mine. Haven't gotten to compare because not home except to the es10s which are pathetically outclassed. The sig pro on just initial listening sounds good with good instrument separation and detail. They are much brighter than I expected from my reading, I will have to a/b with ed8s. Also less comfortable than I had hoped for.
Overall great but only listened for fifteen minutes. My only real bummer is that I smoked when I was younger and this used pair appears to have been owned by a smoker so hope the smell will wear away as it airs or I can find some learher treatment. I'm going to soak the case in water and soap and wipe it I think. Very distracting. Not as bad on the headphones but I am sensitive to it.

They are wired with a 48" cable terminated for the SR71-B as are all my phones and I then have a 48" extension that terminates in xlr for use with my home amp

That is what i thought.

Okay so i did a quick a/b with the Ed8s.  I am surprised at how much i like the SigPro's when compared, they way outperform my expectations.  With a short listen they seem a bit more polite and less bright than the ed8.  Possibly more balanced but a bit less clear and maybe more emphasis on the upper to mid bass so sound smoother.     They both share the same sound signature to me just with different emphasis.  Both keepers.  Definitely the Ed8 is way more comfortable though and using ed8 in bed works really well because of ear cups.

I usually get it right at first and this is just a short listen compare….. need to listen to some music with more range to get a better view later.

If anyone has a suggestion on how to get the smoke smell out let me know.  I would rather not have to replace the ear pads and i don't even know if i can replace the headband pad.

That's a bummer about the smoke smell. Quite often when I see 2nd hand gear (usually in Japan's 2nd hand stores but sometimes mentioned in classifieds here too) I see "smoke free environment" and wonder why worthy of mentioning. I guess it does truly matter.

2 years back when I was demoing the SigPro and ready to sell my Ed8LE I felt the SigPros gave a fuller sound than the Ed8LEs which if I were to think now, sounded probably a little too V-shaped and a little too digitalish for me. I truly did enjoy the size, design, and comfort of the Ed8LEs but sound-wise, the SigPros won my ears. I recently talked to the Michael & Michael of Ultrasone (during the Ed5 launch) and asked them to consider having the SigPro (or SigDJ for that matter) sound but in the Ed8 housing. I was even hoping the Ed5 would be the solution but unfortunately not to be. I would have been prepared to get the Ed5 even if they were able to achieve it.

It seems it's close to impossible to get the Signature series sound in a Ed8/5 housing.

Try putting them in some enclosed space with a glass of vinegar for 24 hours, that's supposed to remove most of the smoke smell

You can try using activated carbon granules.

They do usually leave black residue, but it can be cleaned out. Better than smoke smell I guess.

I feel with you. I got a second hand cable for my Sony EX-1000 iems. The guy selling it was obviously a smoker. Tried some tips from friends already, but the stink remains. Hope you can find a solution. But it could be worse:

This is going by memory from my tests in late Oct & early Nov.

It's somewhat more refined than the Ed8 but still the Ultrasone Edition series house sound. In all honesty I still prefer the Signature series (either Pro or DJ will do).

Thanks. My pocket loves you for saying so. The comfort of the ED8 series still leaves me yearning a little though.

That is a good price but from EU above too.  Would have jumped at that had i seen it.  The ones i have are flawless except the smell and it doesn't reek, seems more like they were inside there case in a smoking environment and the outside of the case is strong and inside is light but held it in.  Just lingering.  I think i can get it out with some diligence.  Thanks for the suggestions and like i said, these actually do rival the ed8 which i have been an advocate for for years.  Guess i am on this thread as an owner for a bit…..

:beerchug: Dallan.  IMO ed8 is a bit more "clean" but less balanced or organic. Two different flavors. I much prefer my SP.
