Have been a long long time lurker of this site and have finally decided to join in. I bought the Sig. Pro about 2 months ago and after almost 6 months of extensive research (ha!). Anyways, I wanted a pair of cans to replace my HD-25 for DJing but also have them to produce while on the road. However........ about 2 weeks ago I perforated my right eardrum which seems to be attributed to DJing. Now, I came here to ask you guys what IEM has a similar sound signature to the Ultrasone's as I think I will have to sell them and rely on IEMs for DJing and producing on the road from now on. I would prefer recommendations to IEMs that are more suitable for production (flat).

Thank you :)

Wow... but aren't the results from a perforated eardrum temporary??!?! Anyway, not sure how different (or better) would be to use something completely inserted in the ear canal over your current headphones...

I don't do much IEM stuff, but you could look into VSonic's GR07 Bass Edition... or browse through ljoker IEM thread.

Welcome to Head-Fi btw... ;-)

Yeah it should be back in form in another week or 2, but that was the final straw haha. I considered moving to IEMs before the Sig Pro due to reoccurring tinnitus, the passive isolation from IEMs will allow me to have lower volumes while DJing. Anyways I will peruse through the IEM section, would really like recommendations that align to the Sig Pro's sound though.

thank you

:)

That sounds like very good thinking.  iem is the way to go.  I have customs that are wonderful for isolation.  Have had them for three years and they seem fairly neutral to me.  JH13, but haven't heard the Sig Pro so don't know how they would compare.  Hopefully there will be a pair of these at the upcoming meet in Los Angeles.

I have found the CLAS (original version) plus ALO RX Mk 2 plus Nordost iKable works very well with the Sig Pro. Fostex HP-P1 plus iQube amplifier and Nordost iKable also works well, but in my experience the Sig Pros need a clean signal to work at their best and that combination is not quite so clean-sounding.

All this talk of amps... Out of curiosity, has anyone tried the WE7 with Sig Pro's?

Ok, I did decide against the SP and bought the Fostex TH600 instead. At some point I will try the SP...

As an previous owner of the Ultrasone PRO 900, I must say that there is a bit of Ultrasone signature in the TH600. From what I remember aboiut the PRO 900, I find the TH600 to be sounding similar (tonality wise) to the PRO 900. What separates them is the better bass-control and (compared to the PRO 900) gentleman like highs.

As much as I love my Sig Pro it seems I will have to sell them after all, doc doesnt recomment using over/on ear headphones for djing anymore :( Might try to sell them on the "Sales" forum or just eBay. Sad sad day I have to say.

Try our forum.  I have sold or bought almost two dozen items with no issues and it helps out our community.  Let us/me know when you post.  May have someone interested.

Then what are you suppose to use? In-ear? Or LOUDspeakers? Or just quit djing altogether?

No way am I quitting DJing hehe, but it seems I am quite prone to ear damage. IEMs should help decrease the volume that I monitor at while DJing so hopefully that should be enough. Anyways, for anyone interested the headphones are currently on eBay. The Sale Forum seems pretty good but I don't think I could risk selling these headphones there, eBay seems more secure. Maybe its just me :P

I've been using my Sig Pro's to mix with since I got them. Great isolation combined with enough of a bass slam = not to have to crank them to much (my ears thank Ultrasone). I was definitely getting the tinnitus like symptoms when I used HD-25's, but they are not quite the same animal. Does anyone use the Sig DJ when mixing?
