These are both great posts. I love 'em.
Bill, I think people here will give you the best answer if you can give
them an idea of what you are looking for in an IC - what are you looking for the IC to do for you? As noted in other discussions the "sound" of a cable can be subtle. So what are you trying to do:
- lower interference?
- tighten bass response?
- add warmth?
- increase treble transparency?
- reduce bass bloom ("go dry")
- decrease treble sibilance?
Let them know what your system is doing now, and how you want to change it. Some cables sound different than others and they can be used to just give a bump to the system in the direction wanted. For instance, I'm trying a pair of Outlaw PCA's.
In my system, Parasound D/A to Stax SRA-14S, they are warm, good midrange with a subtle rolloff and darkening of the high to very high frequencies. "Euphonic" the old term was, they are "mellow". They are nice but I prefer more "neutral" and "open" and am looking forward to switching out to a pair of Cardas Neutral Reference, but in the meantime the Outlaws aren't unlistenable by any stretch. However, if your system is "bright" these babies are just the ticket to give you the icing on your system cake which you might be looking for.
Talk to them; they have been playing around with a lot of new stuff, it seems, and can really help you.
