Equipment Stand Recommendations

I am in the market for a new equipment stand and would like your recommendations for ones that you have experience with. Nothing really heavy will be on it except possibly the Fisher.

There should be room for:
2 CD players
pre amp
possibly a Fisher amplifier.

My amplifiers will be on 2 separate stands as will the turntable when I decide on one.

I bought this one last year and I've been happy with it. It was easy to assemble and seems quite sturdy.

www.audioadvisor.com has the Lovan classic's for 199.00. I just got one in trade and it's pretty good. To add more weight to it I'm going to replace the wood shelves with either 1/2" hockey glass or 3/4" marble. All in all a pretty good little rack that you can add extra shelves to it at your own pace. Or get a couple extras for your amp stands and have them all match. I like the big shelves as they hold the Cary 306/200 CDP with know problems.(its big)

I really like Vantage Solus racks, silver tube with black shelves, 9" clearance between shelves:

I like it so much I bought two for both systems, here is what they look like loaded up with gear:

I have had a Sanus Systems Euro Foundations rack for about four years and have always liked it. Audio Advisor sells it and it can be bought in different configuations as the shelfs can be added infinitely. Here's a link to the EFAB-4.

Here's my rig.

I've been using a Sanus five shelf audio rack for the last three years and really like it. Very good isolation for the components between the spike mounted steel tubular frame and the individually elastomer-shocked isolated MDF shelves. Mine was about 80# as shipped and is now filled with 60# graphited steel #5 shot and has my 40# marble slab under the turntable on top. I liked the fact that the unit was shipped unassembled, as I have greater confidence in my care and skill in assembly. Completed unit was completely square and hell-for-strong and solid. Isolation of components from vibration caused a noticeable improvement in sound clarity and "small sounds". Mine in finished all in black, but you can get oak, cherry, and maple front accent boards if you so desire. Highly recomended. I think it was about $450.

Old Pa

Is your the 5 shelf version of the one Sean has pictured above? You filled the tubes with shot as you built it?

The more I look the more choices there seem to be.

John what's your budget? Are you looking for top performance or do looks matter?

John- Just to add, like OldPa all the tubes in my rack are filled with sand (no shot). You just fill them up as you go, just have to use fine sand. There are varying colors of both the wood and tubes if I am not mistaken, BTW.

This unit will be in my listening room out away from daily traffic so looks are not paramount. I was thinking of not going any higher than $300 as I still will need 2 amp stands as well.

In that case, the base shelf of the Sanus rack I have mentioned is sold as an "amp stand" as well, at Audio Advisor as well for $80 here.

I think these are not deep enough and I may end up making my own. I have been thinking of marble slabs with cones for isolation. The amps I am patiently waiting for are 24" deep x 11W
They are due here the 28th. They are Atma-Sphere MA1 MK-II.2 monoblocs.
