Well, last I saw, Shike piled on a someone who AB'd the Beta22 and O2 by calling them out for lack of evidence and poor DBT, etc, etc. Shike made the counterclaim that he DBT'd the O2 and B22 and could not discern a difference. When asked to provide evidence of such a 'test' Shike said he didn't have to provide it or didn't have it, forget which. So likely closed for pot calling the kettle black in the SS forum as I'd see it which = troll.
I can never make heads or tails of those, even when he's talking about headphones...
Me neither, it's like a 6 moon review, lots of verbiage and somewhat confusing.
But... it was relevant to the thread... somewhat...
At least we learned that it would sound better if they put it in a bigger case.
Actually its exactly like a 6moons review. Word salad and lots of pretty pictures. He does lose points on his imitation because his site's layout and navigation is only annoying and not what 1997 would have looked like with 100x the bandwidth.
Thanks, that aside, Headfonia review.
I think I have to vehemently disagree with some of the statements made in this review. I agree that this amp has a blacker background then a velvet curtain but I don't understand how the reviewer could say its lacking in bass.
I've listened to my friends Objective 2 extensively with all kinds of bass electric bass, string bass, kick drums etc. (I wanted to make SURE that the bass was BA.)And I can let every one know that it is most certainly BA.
I feel like I've tested this amps bass with a microscope because that is what one thing that is very important to me. I don't see how any one could say it was lacking. Would be like some one saying the the grass is red and the sky is orange its so far from the truth its not even funny.
I know people hear things differently but this can't account for a polar opposite view point, can it? Has any one else found the bass to be lacking?
I dunno, some people including me use some EQ with the O2 to up the bass, but that's because of the headphones and preferences, not the amp?
I'm not going to make excuses or anything (lol), but I wonder if they were using a source with higher than 1V output, since they complained about the sound with the high gain setting and wondered why anybody would need anything that loud. With the JDSLabs 6.5x default high gain, greater than 1V sources will clip the gain stage, of course.
Well, the source is something of a mystery. There are tons of portable sources with poor bass response IME. I've also heard expensive DACs geared for treble heads and similar signatures coming from various computer audio products. The possibilities are endless.
Well rolled off bass in a portable is almost always due to undersized coupling caps but a high Z amp input will fix that and esoteric DAC filters only roll off the treble more and don't add to it so I'm not sure that's much of an issue.
