Hey guys, i've recently purchased (well bid on) a second hand pair of AKG K702. Theyre in spectacular condition and come with everything original. The way i decided on them? I went to your forums and spent days researching the many options, and it seems that the AKG K702's are well praised! At first i thought of buying them new, but after seeing they retail for 900 AUD (its all overpriced here in australia), i went to eBay (seeing as Amazon.com although might be cheap, has horrid shipping rates, 50-100AUD), and found some for 400AUD New in box. Soi figured i might save up, being a college student with no income i thought ide wait till my birthday. Luckily, recently a pair appeared for 100 AUD, and i bidded on them, theyres 21 hours left and im the only bidder, so hopefully i win them! However thats not the point. Im here because, yes as odd and stupid as this sounds, i do want to occasionaly walk out for walks with them, being rather succsesful with my Beats Studio's (YES I KNOW PEOPLE THINK THEYRE CRAP! However seeing as i got them after owning a pair of iPod earbuds, they sounded like Jesus, plus they look really sexy and if your like me and get them for 180 from a friend, theyre not all that bad!) Anyway, back to the point at hand. I do wish to walk around with them, not always, seeing as i have a pair of Sennheiser CX400 II's which i think are bloody brilliant earbuds, but when i do, i want to use a headphone amp. I was reading about them here and on other forums (none as detailed as this site) and found they need a high level of power and a decent amp to power them, and using just my HTC Desire HD to power them would not make them sound as apparently brilliant as they sound. Also, since my desk is rather cluttered, and i do wish to use them as my regular PC gaming and music listening headphones, ide like an AMP that isnt too large. I did some research on these forums and found that no one, had posted forums about PORTABLE amps for the K702's. Theyres tonnes on amps like the Fiio E9 and other amps, but none on something...pocket friendly. I looked around and found the Fiio E5 and the Fiio E11, the E5 looking much more pocket friendly (its the size of the new nano basicly) plus it being only 20 AUD delivered. Although the Fiio E11 is 70AUD, and i DO have the money for it, im just wondering what would be a better amp (PORTABLE) and quiet cheap (something at about 80AUD ((thats about 79USD)) ) Or if nothing else is available for my needs, would you recommend the Fiio E5 or E11, and would they pump out enough..Ohms? To power the AKG's. Sorry about this huge post, but im new here and have a ton of questions! Also if i sound rather childish, i am only 14 :D
